A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Family, neighbors, lots of food, the beach and no rain, what a great day! The Pickwick BBQ was held on August 2nd. The threat of rain had everyone a little nervous, but it turned out to be a very comfortable day for the event. There were approximately 70 people who came down for the festivities.

The Board of Directors had planned this day in June. There were 2 extensive clean-up days that set the tone. In addition to the Board members, John Tanner, Rick Clark and Andrea Sarchi put in extensive hours cleaning our Beach Club. We greatly appreciate their efforts. Planting was completed, port-a-potties secured, and Joe Niver (treasurer) spent most of his "free" time fixing the well. Jean Smiles worked diligently planning the event with the Entertainment committee. A special thanks to her, Susan Ortolani, Deb Hryvniak and Susan Niver for their work in preparing water balloons, purchasing food and setting up the food.

DJ, Stephan Krompier provided entertainment, leading the children and adults in games and playing some great tunes. The children had a water balloon toss, and everyone enjoyed musical chairs. The menu was a classical Hamburger, cheeseburger, hot dogs, corn on the cob and salads. There were some mighty hearty appetites and several food runs were made. Pickwick beach club t-shirts were sold for $5 and were a big hit, they will be available at other events.

This was the first of many fun planned events. Every Friday night starting August 15, 2003 at 6:00 PM is griller's night. Bring the family and food and join others from the Pickwick community as we enjoy our beach. A beach party is scheduled for August 24th @ noon. We will have "the big sandwich" bring your own beverages; volley ball and kayaking is planned. A drive-in movie is planned for September 12th @ 8PM. Movie to be announced, bring your own snacks and beverages.
